8 GRADUATE DESIGNERS

8 graduate designers from Munich

A new exhibition highlights work from the graduate portfolios of 8 young designers. “Some of them are probably among the finest to come out of Germany“, says Haman Alimardani, the designers’ former teacher at fashion school. Alimardani hand-picked their work and is effectively curator of the exhibition.

The exhibition not only aims to document the stellar standards of creativity and production shown in the work, which is well able to hold its own in the face of international competition and is slated to generate enthusiasm among fashion mavens. Presentation too is of a uniformly exceptional standard. The students documented their work in professional photo shoots and complemented it by creating a range of image material, assembling a fully rounded brand package that will appeal to designers and advertising specialists alike.

Naturally a profile at this level of sophistication is the perfect passport to the fashion business. And so it’s no wonder that some of Alimardani’s students have already launched their careers by landing positions at top companies including Puma.

In contrast to the glittering catwalk shows of the fashion school’s graduate presentations, Alimardani intends this exhibition to encourage visitors’ personal reflection about the works. ”The graduate catwalk show was so dazzling that the students never even got a chance to check out each others’ collections, let alone open them up to the public.“

Alimardani located a restored basement complete with vaulted ceiling under the studio of his own “hamansutra” label at Buttermelcherstr. 21 (courtyard entrance) in Munich’s dynamic Glockenbachviertel quarter as the perfect setting for this fashion show with a 21st-century twist.
